I needed something to go behind my couch in the living room. I was inspired by Pottery Barn’s wood panel art, but it’s a little out of my price range so I decided to see if I could so something similar. So here is my tutorial on how I did it. 🙂 (Additional details at the bottom)
*I found the wood at a thrift store for $5, I lucked out! If you don’t get as lucky then try going to Home Depot or Lowes and finding wood there (or use reclaimed wood) and then glue together with wood glue (if light enough), or use nails. I think what I found used to be part of a piece of furniture, you could use cabinet doors, tops of tables, etc.
*The white paint was left over from my side table project (Behr paint)
*Don’t worry if you’re not an artist, I’m not either! I figured if it looks a like a kid did it, then it will have that “modern” feel or something 🙂 Option 2: If you’re really not comfortable with drawing and painting, then use a black and white photo and get it printed at Kinkos to fit your board (just a cheap, printed photo on paper), then Modge Podge to your board, let dry overnight and then do the black edge painting. It won’t look as much like a wood panel, but the overall effect should still be pretty cool.
