If there is ever anything I wish I
could help all girls with, it would be their self-confidence. Girls are so painfully aware of their flaws
and constantly second-guess their strengths.
They are the first to admit their imperfections. As I’ve moved to different places and made many
friends with different personalities and from a variety of backgrounds, I’ve
found that confidence is one thing in almost every girl’s life that needs a
boost. To be honest, I was that
girl. The girl that looked in the mirror
and constantly analyzed her face shape, her freckles, her figure. I saw my personal weaknesses and felt anxiety
over my failures. I let other people
determine my self worth, both good and bad.
Finally, after heartaches, depression and hitting a personal low in my
life, I realized that my worth was not up for other people to decide. It wasn’t the world’s fault that I felt
inferior or inconsequential; it was mine.
It was my obligation to really figure out my self-worth. Confidence is not egotistical or prideful; it
is something that comes from within. A
true love for yourself and an understanding of your divine potential. It is a unique understanding between you and Heavenly
Father. Confidence and self-worth is
built of gratitude, personal delight in your accomplishments and an
understanding of the truly amazing potential you have. Everyone has an individual make up, filled
with specific characteristics, strengths, weaknesses and passions that make us
who we are. It is every person’s unique
privilege to discover these things.
Nobody else can do it for you, it is your responsibility. Your worth is for you to decide, which is
empowering and frightening all at once.
Learn to recognize your strengths as well as your weaknesses. Find ways to use your strengths and cope with
your weaknesses, or better yet, turn them into strengths. Develop yourself. Make it a priority to expand your
talents. Life is too short to make
excuses. Learn to appreciate your flaws,
for some of them might not even be flaws at all.
In a world full of turmoil, it is imperative
to fully understand your worth, and never let it be compromised. Many times you will not be able to control
things and people around you, but you can always control yourself. Even when you stumble and make mistakes,
there is always hope, you have not lost your worth. It is not something that can be lost; it is
only waiting for you to find it again. You
are truly unique, and your trials can make you stronger if you choose to let
them. It is your choice. As you let your light radiate within you, it
affects others around you. It allows
others to love and respect you and to realize their own potential, just by
being near you. Accept your
responsibility to find your worth and hold on to it. Never let it be taken from you. Let it reach to the depths of your soul until
it fills your heart with the fire of clarity.
Until you become acutely aware of how amazing you really are. Only then will you begin to understand what
you are worth.
