MAKEUP HAS BEEN MY PREGNANCY ANTI-DEPRESSANT
I have finally hit that 30 week mark in my pregnancy, and my stomach (not to mention my legs), has grown by leaps and bounds. I am obsessed with this little guy growing in me already, however, I have had a little struggle with my self-esteem as I watch the scale hit numbers I never thought possible. One thing that has helped me keep my mind from becoming consumed with weight during pregnancy has been makeup! It may sound superficial, but it’s nice to have a little extra boost when you look in the mirror. I’ve always been more prone to a natural makeup look, but during this pregnancy it has been fun to experiment with bright lipsticks and more dramatic winged liner. Since being pregnant I have found one of my new favorite makeup brands, Laura Geller. To be honest, I was really skeptical of their face products at first. It’s almost impossible to find a foundation that matches my skin tone. I was shocked when I applied their liquid and baked foundation and found they both blended with my skin! The liquid has light to medium, even coverage and is perfect for normal to dry skin. The baked foundation has the same coverage and is more ideal for normal to oily skin. I actually now use a combination of the two in my everyday makeup routine. I don’t like doing multiple layers of any type of liquid foundation, it makes me feel like my skin is too dewy and tends to look more caked on.
My Steps to Everyday “Airbrushed” Skin
1. Start with a layer of primer
2. Follow with a light layer of liquid foundation
3. Let the liquid set for a minute
4. Finish with a light dusting of the baked foundation (in place of another layer of liquid and/or powder-this is what gives you the matte, airbrushed look)
This makes my skin flawless, but without being cakey. It also gives my face a matte finish, which I love!
