PICKING THE PERFECT DIAPER BAG
Over the past few months I’ve accumulated a few diaper bags. I’ve tried quite a few brands, sizes and styles, so I know how confusing it can be to pick a bag that is good for you and your baby. Today I’m teaming up with The Baby Cubby to talk about how to pick the diaper bag that is right for you.
There are a few things to consider when choosing a bag: the functionality, size, material, style, weight, convenience, the list goes on and on. The Baby Cubby has a great diaper bag buying guide that outlines the most important things to look for in a diaper bag to make it easier for you to choose. In addition to the diaper bag guide, they have information on choosing strollers, carseats and all kinds of baby gear!
When I first found out I was pregnant, I stood at the store looking at pacifiers for twenty minutes before getting so frustrated with all of the options that I just gave up! I was so excited when I found The Baby Cubby, because their team is composed of parents who have tried the products and help you make the right purchasing decisions. Asking friends and family what they preferred was great, but sometimes what is right for one person isn’t right for you. The Baby Cubby guides give you the information you need to pick the right brand and product. (They also price match, so you don’t have to worry about inflated prices like some baby specialty stores!)
Here are my personal baby bag picks for my different needs:
#1 A functional, relatively large size backpack style bag. I LOVE, LOVE my Petunia Picklebottom Boxy Backpack. I use this bag the most out of any other bag. It fits everything I need, and keeps it organized so I don’t feel like I’m digging through a mess of things, and the backpack straps make traveling easy as well. I love the built-in, detachable changing pad in the front, with sections for diapers and wipes too. If you are only getting one bag, this is the one I would recommend.
#2 A light weight, clutch diaper bag. I recently got this clutch style diaper bag (pictures above), that you can carry like a wristlet or over your shoulder. I would have never thought I would like a diaper bag that is this small, but it has been so awesome to have a small bag with basic essentials for quick outings! My big backpack can sometimes be a bit much when I’m just running to the market for one or two items, so I love my clutch. (It still has the diaper changing pad and compartments built in the front too!)
#3 A mid-sized diaper bag. If you never leave the house for more than a couple of hours, but need a little more than a clutch, a mid-sized diaper bag may be perfect for you. Messenger bags and totes go over the shoulder like a purse. They still have all of the bells and whistles, just not as much room as the backpacks.
*My favorites brands have been Petunia Picklebottom, JJ Cole, Fawn Design and Ju-Ju-Be. Hands down, my number one favorite brand is Petunia Picklebottom though. I get asked all of the time if it is worth the investment, and my answer is 1,000 times YES! The quality has been better than any others I have tried and the designs revolve around functionality, while still having the cutest designs.
Hope this was helpful to all of you moms (and dads) who are on the hunt for a diaper bag!
