SHIFT DRESS OUTFIT
I love shift dresses, but sometimes I feel like putting together an outfit with them can be difficult. Here are some of my tips on accessorizing to create the perfect shift dress outfit. (You can snag my midi ruffle sleeve shift for $15.)
- Hats, braids, updos or half up hair. A shift dress hangs down from the shoulders in a relatively straight line, so I like to add a little more interest on top. This helps to balance the shape of the dress so you look pulled together from head to toe.
- Booties, sneakers and pumps. If you want a casual look, you can pair most shift dresses with sneakers (which is really convenient if you are chasing after a toddler all day like I am)! If I am dressing it up, I love classic pumps so that my legs are lengthened. In the winter, booties are my go to though. If you are wearing a shorter shift dress vs a midi shift dress, then over the knee boots can be cute as well.
- Simply jewelry or none at all. Shift dresses have a bit of a casual feel, so if I’m going for an every day look, I skip the jewelry. It keeps me from looking overdone. If I’m dressing it up a bit, I go for simple earrings or a necklace, but not both.
