Tuft & Needle
Isn’t it funny how you never quite realized how much you needed something until you have it, and then you can’t imagine living without it?! This is how I feel about our Tuft and Needle mattress. Originally, we had a traditional spring mattress that we paired with a nice foam topper. I thought our bed was fairly comfortable, nothing great, but not bad. I knew it was starting to get a little worn and uneven though. Recently, Tuft and Needle sent us this mattress and honestly…I have been absolutely blown away by how much of a difference it has made. We have been sleeping on it for three weeks now and my husband and I have less random back/neck pain, and I am able to get to sleep more quickly (which can be a struggle for me). We have been really pleased with our Tuft and Needle mattress so far. I know a lot of you have said that you have been debating between a Tuft and Needle or a different brand of mattress recently, so I thought I would share what I like about it and who I think this mattress is well suited for. Here is a little graph I made on how I would personally rate our mattress on various aspects.
#1 Overall Value – I gave it a 5, because you would be really hard pressed to find another quality mattress this comfortable that can beat the price and convenience of Tuft and Needle. Overall, I feel you get more than what you pay for.
#2 & #5 Comfort and Firmness – I rated it a 4.5 for comfort and 4.1 for firmness. It is extremely comfortable, but slightly more on the firm side compared to some foam mattresses. I have gone back and forth on how I feel about this, because I hate sinking too far in foam (it ends up hurting my back and neck). However, sometimes I like a little extra fluff to jump into. These rating are completely more of a preference thing vs an issue with the quality. Overall, I feel that one of the main reasons my back and neck haven’t hurt as much is due to the balance between sink and firmness that the Tuft and Needle mattress has. The lack of sinking also helps to keep you from getting too hot while you are sleeping. I would especially recommend this mattress for belly and back sleepers, it gives you the support you need, but is still soft and molds to your body. I tend to roll on my belly a lot in the middle of the night, and I no longer wake up with a sore lower back.
#3 Motion Transfer – I rated Tuft and Needle a 4.9 for this, because it really does an amazing job of absorbing the movements of your spouse, dog, kid, etc. in the bed. It is made up of T&N Adaptive® Foam (not latex or memory foam), it’s something they invented! This foam makes it so I almost never feel my husband move during the night. The funniest thing is that my dog will actually sleep on our bed now! Ever since he was a puppy, he couldn’t stand to be on our bed with us for more than about 15 minutes because I would wiggle around so much to get comfortable before falling asleep. Now I can wiggle and flip over as much as I want, and it doesn’t jostle him. He is now constantly our snuggle buddy.
#4 Returns – They get a 5/5 for their return policy for sure! They offer a 100-night sleep trial and a 10-year warranty. Also, if you decide to return the mattress for any reason, they arrange a way to donate it to charity with you! I mean, seriously, you can’t get any better than that. You don’t have to ship it back, and it goes toward a good cause. You can also buy their mattresses through Amazon, however the return process may be different since it would be subject to Amazon’s policies.
#6 (5 is above with 2) Convenience – I rated them a 5 for convenience. They are fast at shipping, great with warranties, wonderful with customer service and they make returns easy.
#7 Quality – The only reason I didn’t rate the mattress a 5 and rated it a 4.3 is because I wouldn’t necessarily put it in a luxury mattress category. If you are looking for a luxury mattress, then you will still have to drop a few thousand. However, I would rate Tuft and Needle a 5 on quality if you aren’t comparing them to the ridiculously expensive, luxury mattresses. I would definitely put it at the top of it’s class, and I’d even say it beats mattresses that are quite a bit more pricey. They really did do an excellent job at creating a quality mattress that is still affordable.
#8 Shipping – It’s definitely a 5. Quick and free shipping, this top rating is a no brainer.
#9 Price – Tuft and Needle mattresses range from $350 for a Twin to $750 for a Cal King. I personally feel they are more than fairly priced. I have slept on beds that are much more expensive and haven’t found them nearly as comfortable.
Hopefully this helps you decide if a Tuft and Needle mattress is the right fit for you. I definitely wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to any of you. It has been one of my favorite additions to the house this year!
