If you’re anything like me, you’re spending this time of year thinking about what to give your loved ones to show that you care. It can be hard to purchase an individualized gift when approaching a wide genre like jewelry. A smart choice when trying to pick something special to give the jewelry-lover in your life, is to focus on a specific trend or style. This year’s top trend in jewelry is layering and stacking and Sequin-NYC has the perfect items this year to make putting together the perfect gift a snap! To give you some ideas on how to create a complete layered look, I’m sharing with you some of my tips on how to layer necklaces.

HOW TO LAYER NECKLACES
Keep it Simple
Gravitate toward thin and delicate, but stay away from chunky statement necklaces.
Use Unique Pieces
Choose necklaces with different textures, charms, and lengths.
Layer in Odd Numbers
Use 3 or 5 strands to round out a look. If you decide to layer with two necklaces, I recommend combining a short necklace that hits at the hollow of the neck or higher (a choker works well), with a longer necklace.
Check Your Colors
Use primarily metal-colored necklaces. If adding pops of color, keep those details small and in the same color family.
When choosing other jewelry, go for dainty stacking rings or long earrings like these gold. You’ve put in a lot of thought on how to layer necklaces, you don’t need to distract from them. Make sure other pieces are minimal and that they blend with the colors/textures of the layered necklaces.
ABOUT MY LOOK
I love Sequin-NYC because their jewelry flows so well together, even if they are from different collections! It makes layering and stacking extremely easy. They also have so many beautiful, delicate necklaces to choose from, which are absolutely perfect for this trend. For this layered look, I used aquamarine and turquoise as my little pops of color for a romantic, slightly boho vibe (aquamarine is my birth stone). I primarily chose pieces that had moons, stars, and other ethereal elements (primarily from Sequin-NYC’s Celestial Collection) to keep the look cohesive. I chose long earrings that included some of the same elements to use in my two-necklace layered look.
