Thank you to ModCloth for sending me this dress and purse as a gift. Although the items were gifted, I selected the items and all opinions, styling and content are my own.
I’ve been talking a lot about my journey to develop a better body image on social media lately. It’s taken years for me to have a stronger sense of self and confidence in how I look, despite (and because of) my imperfections. I’m especially excited to partner with ModCloth today, because they are a company that is all about empowering women and making them feel beautiful. I love that their models are not all the same shape and size. They often have a few different models wear the same clothing item on their site, so you can see how it looks on different body shapes as well as an online feed to see how it looks on real customers! This is seriously a game changer. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve bought an item online that looked cute on the model, but fit my body shape terribly. ModCloth is the kind of company that I absolutely adore, because they understand that all women are different and that clothing should make you feel good about yourself. There are also stylists that you can talk to when shopping online that can help you find something that will work perfectly for you. They carry a range of sizes from XXS-4XL, so thin women who have a hard time finding a small enough size are covered as well! Their mobile app also has the capability to recommend items that would compliment your size. I highly recommend checking them out, I can’t say enough positive things about this company.
TWO TIPS ON HOW TO WEAR A PINAFORE DRESS
Whenever I see a pinafore dress, I feel happy! I suppose it reminds me of my beloved childhood Raggedy Ann doll. I honestly didn’t know how to wear one without looking too much like a little girl though! So I debated for awhile on how I would style one. However, when I saw this dress from ModCloth, I immediately knew what I would wear it with! Here are a couple of tips I came up with to create a slightly more sophisticated and mature version of one of my childhood favorite outfits.
- Layer the dress over a top with some cute detailing on the sleeves. It immediately creates an overall more polished look vs a plain t-shirt that you probably wore under these dresses and overalls as a kid. I’ve also seen women wear these dresses with a patterned crop top, which also looks darling. As long as the top has some kind of detail that draws you in, then it helps to break up the simple, more childlike appearance.
- Pair with some simple, girly accessories. This pink purse from ModCloth has actually been one of my new favorites lately, because it goes with almost everything. I also love wearing this look with neutral, cute sandals so that it gives the style a more casual, practical appearance. Hats can also drastically effect the overall look. I especially like boater hats in the summer and Panama hats in the fall and winter.
I hope some of these tips were helpful! Make sure to check out ModCloth and take advantage of all of their resources for finding the perfect items and sizes that compliment YOU.
